Turn on chat rooms, post announcements, reply in employees’ private rooms, use reactions and read receipts, and moderate messages with Strike Out or Delete.
In this screencast, I'll show how managers can use ShiftApp Chat to keep in touch with their team.
Chat is in the Chat tab at the top of every page. The number shows how many unread messages you have.
Chat rooms are set up in your Workforce Settings. There are four kinds of chat room.
The Management room is just for your managers.
In the Announcements room, managers post messages, and everyone else can read and react to them.
The Everyone room is a group chat for the whole workforce. It's off by default, so let's turn it on.
Each employee also gets a private room with the managers. It's a good place for questions about shifts, or for letting you know they're running late.
And the Chat Reactions Set chooses which emoji reactions people can use, or turns reactions off.
Save the settings.
Click the Chat tab to see your chat rooms.
Rooms with unread messages are listed first, with a count of new messages.
As a manager, you'll see the Management, Announcements and Everyone rooms, plus a private room for each employee.
Let's open the room with the new message.
An employee has let the managers know they're running late. Opening the room marks the message as read.
Type a reply, then press Enter or click Send.
The small photos under a message show who has read up to that point.
If you have several managers, you might not need notifications from every employee's room. Turn off Notify Me to stop notifications for a room. You can still read and post there at any time.
Chat Room Info shows who is in the room.
Click All Rooms to go back to the list, then open the Announcements room.
Only managers can post in the Announcements room.
Everyone in the workforce sees it straight away, and people using the ShiftApp mobile app also get a notification.
The Everyone room is a group chat for the whole team.
To react to a message, hover over it, click the reaction button, then pick an emoji.
Managers can also moderate messages. This one shares a phone number with the whole workforce, so let's remove it.
Click the time next to a message to open Message Info.
Strike Out keeps the message visible, but crossed out. Delete removes the text. Either way, everyone sees who did it and why.
Choose a reason, then confirm. There are two confirmations, because a deleted message can't be restored.
The message is replaced by a note showing who deleted it, when, and why.
With ShiftApp Chat, all your work conversations stay in one place, right next to your schedules. There are no scattered group chats on personal phones, and no need for staff to share their personal numbers. When someone leaves your workforce, they leave its chat rooms too.
Chat is also in the ShiftApp mobile app and mobile site, so your team can keep in touch wherever they are.
Thank You.
